This is the first time I'm doing a movie review so please bear with my naivete about this.
An excellent work of art, 500 Days of Summer would be one of the bests feel-good movies that I've ever watched. It tackles both sides of love which is fantasy and reality. The scenes are sweet yet with a touch of realism, it's not so overdone and not so boring. This gives you an unexplainable feeling of lightness as if your problems are gone like the wind. The funny pick-up lines gave the movie life and a ray of sunshine. The movie shows that love comes in a very unexpected way that would just make you feel like "Boom!". 500 Days of Summer also showed the bitter side of love which is losing someone you love in a soft yet painful manner. But the good thing is, it also showed how moving on from a wrecked relationship would make you stronger and bolder in terms of your whole being and your thoughts about dating and other stuff that relates about love. This movie is perfect for destiny suckers like me (haha!) or if you would just like to chill inside your house and you like to feel better.
Character-wise, I could say that Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel both did a great job portraying the roles of Tom and Summer. Who could ever think of someone that can give the silent bitch and the cute greeting card writer life?
In the field of cinematography I could say that they didn't screwed up since the camera got the right angles and showed the expression of each character. I like the vintage-y effect of the lighting because it was just so light and good for the eyes.
In terms of the soundtrack I couldn't really say anything since in the first place, I was never a fan of British pop. Yet, the choice of songs matched to every scene. From happy and melancholic, you can't help but to sing along with their songs and download The Smiths on iTunes.
These words cannot express how I fell in love with this flick even if this is my first time watching it. It's beyond that. Something that I can't grasp not until I get stuck in a relationship with no assurance. But trust me, this movie will make believe more in the amazing power of love and finding "The One". This will leave you asking for more.
